James E Jacobs

James E. Jacobs was born in April 1876 in Illinois.

He married Sarah Della Yates on July 9, 1893 in Pope County, Illinois. They added 9 children to their family.

According to the 1910 Census the family lived in Alexander, Pope County, Illinois. By 1920 the family had moved to Eddyville.

In 1920 James and Sarah were divorced.

I have reason to believe that he re-married his sister-in-law by marriage Cora Yates. I need to find documents that prove that this Cora was married first to Samuel Yates. 


He might have lived in Carrier Mills, Saline County, Illinois in the 1930's.

James's parents are William Henry Jacobs and Pernecia Pugh.



According to the  Illinois Marriage and Death Index Online:

William H Jacobs (18) married Pernecial Pugh on Aug 18, 1870 in Pope County

William H Jacobs died on Oct 30, 1879 in Eddyville Pct, Pope County, 30 years old

Mrs. Pernice Jacobs married Clabern Shadowens on April 14, 1880 in Pope County
