Viola Yates

Viola Yates was the daughter of Etha Inda and Benjamin Yates. She was born on December 14, 1878 in Pope County, Illinois. In the 1880 Census she is found with her family in Eddyville.

On July 16, 1896 she married Henry L ( Roy) Walker in Pope County, Illinois.

Their children were as follows:

Orben born 1898

Verlie born 1901

Clara E born 1903

Vernon S born 1903

Jewel E born 1920



According to the Census Reports, Viola and her family lived in Pope County.

1910 - Alexander

In the 1920 Census I find a Viola and Henry Walker living in Kankakee, Illinois. This is the last census that I find him listed.

The Illinois Death Database:

Walker, Henry Leroy   November 29, 1949  Kankakee

In the 1930 Census Viola Walker is listed living in Kankakee in the State Hospital. On a side note: During this era the State Hospitals were used for any illness or older person that could not be taken care of at home. 

I have not been able to find a death certificate for Viola or a burial place for Viola or Henry.

Update: 9/23/2013 - per her sister's Sarah Della's obit, Viola is still living in Kankakee in June of 1947
